Certified Fisheries and Expectations of What Fishing Sustainably Means

Sustainable fishing means something different in different countries and in different fisheries. Recently the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) was accused of not paying enough attention to some of its certified fisheries that are allegedly known to be using destructive and unsustainable fishing practices. This includes inhumane treatment of crew and poor working conditions.
