On Annie’s Watch. Naval Architecture Research to Benefit the ‘Blue Economy’

Six years ago Prof Annie Bekker from Stellenbosch University’s (SU’s) Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering was leading a research programme that examined every vibration, movement and wave hitting South Africa’s polar supply ship, SA Agulhas II. The progress of her career recently saw her awarded the DSTI/NRF-SAIMI SARChI Research Chair in Naval Architecture and Design.
