Three senior officials of the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) have been suspended. This is pending the outcome of a forensic investigation into allegations of misconduct according to external and internal sources.
The three suspended senior managers are Chief Operating Officer (COO) and former Acting Chief Executive, Mr Sobantu Tilayi; Chief Human Capital Officer (CHCO), Ms Lesego Mashishi and Company Secretary, Mr Moyahabo Raphadu.
The are suspended on full pay.
According to media reports the allegations are to do with offshore ship bunkering deals.
