
The comprehensive first draft of the global plastic pollution treaty sets the stage for the upcoming treaty negotiations in Nairobi, Kenya, this November.
The draft global plastic pollution treaty, also known as the “zero draft”, is the first time countries have outlined what the global plastics treaty should cover. Coming at the midway point of negotiations, which are due to be finalised in 2024, the draft provides the foundation for negotiations to now turn from exploratory discussions to final text, based on country inputs.
