All Eyes on Minister Maynier

All eyes are on the new Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, David Maynier. As he settles into his new role, he will find out just how complex the National Fisheries is and that there is a huge amount of work ahead of him – and that is just the Fisheries! How he handles this portfolio remains to be seen but already there are helpful hands extended to him by the South African Deep-sea Trawling Industry Association (SADSTIA). Less keen on the idea of a third Minister in two years is the Small-scale Fisheries which has raised its own concerns.
