Collaboration Key to Resilience of South Africa’s Aquaculture Industry

The 16th Biennial Aquaculture Association Conference of Southern Africa got underway this week with the message that collaboration is key to ensuring the resilience of this industry. To mark the occasion was the news that South Africa has secured the Global Environment Facility (GEF-8) funding approval for just under USD 5-million over a period of five years, under the programme “Catalysing Sustainable Aquaculture Systems for South Africa.”

The event which is being held in the Eastern Cape was opened by Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Deputy Minister, Narend Singh. He had an important and constructive message to deliver to the sector.
