There continues to be a disconnect between the fishing industry and the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA). This was again apparent in today’s early sessions of the national dialogue that the organisation led online. Although the industry recognises safety at sea is a priority, it has raised questions about the legislation and its suitability for some sectors.
