The case of MFV Elke M and several other vessels supposedly part of the Spanish fishing fleet of Grupo Ibérica de Congelados (Iberconsa), provides an opportunity to consider the hake value chain from retail value at point of sale in international markets to economic value received by Iberconsa’s South African hake deep sea trawl (HDST) right holder associates.
