The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) plays a critical role in shaping South Africa’s skills development landscape. As the custodian of occupational qualifications, the QCTO is mandated to ensure that training institutions, learners, and employers operate within a credible, quality-assured system. However, the persistent delays in accrediting occupational courses have begun to undermine confidence in the institution and threaten the country’s ability to address urgent skills shortages.
