African Countries and Others Adopt Mombasa Declaration

Fifteen African countries as well as France, Belgium, USA, and some countries in Asia and the Pacific, have adopted the Mombasa Declaration to strengthen the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. This will test whether transparency commitments translate into stronger enforcement.

China refused to sign the agreement, Russia was absent, and Taiwan was excluded.
