The Oceans Economy Master Plan Stagnation Requires a Rethink

There is a credible argument that the recent stakeholder engagement around the DFFE Oceans Economy Master Plan has struggled to generate the level of industry ownership required, and that a significant rethink is necessary if the Master Plan is to become an investment and implementation instrument rather than another government policy document. The 24 July 2026 engagement sessions were criticised for lack of sufficient time to read and engage the new version sent out days before the engagement session.
