New Study Explores the Value of Long-Term Fishing Rights

Fisheries scientist, Professor Kevern Cochrane, a globally respected fisheries management expert, was commissioned by the South African Deep-Sea Trawling Industry Association (SADSTIA) to provide an  independent review of how different countries structure fishing rights systems and what lessons can be drawn from those experiences for South Africa’s deep-sea trawl sector. This is in response to the government’s intention to revise the Marine Living Resources Act (MLRA).
