Last week the Portfolio Committee on Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment was briefed about the shooting incident between rangers and alleged poachers at Tewate in iSimangaliso Wetland Park, KwaZulu Natal.
If you recall, the 12 November 2021 incident resulted in a small-scale fisherman, Thulani Mdluli, from the KwaNibela village, was allegedly shot while fishing on St Lucia Lake. His body has never been found. He was also the brother of Celempilo Mdluli who was killed by poachers the previous year.
