The appeals process in the South African west coast rock lobster fishery have been completed with the release this week of decisions on the nearshore commercial sector Fishing Zone F having been made. Zone F includes Kleinmond, Hawston, Hermanus and Gansbaai.
The nearshore commercial fishery remains a highly competitive fishery sector with substantially more demand for fishing rights than can be accommodated, particularly in zones adjacent to large population centres.
