Note to Self… World Ocean Day is Every Day of the Year

Watching a TV documentary last night about the extent of the marine plastic pollution problem both appalled and fascinated me. It made me wonder why over the past 15 years I had not paid more attention…

Perhaps it’s the places I have lived in, the taken-for-granted blue flag beaches of the western Cape. I certainly do not recall clocking in on such waste in my younger years on South Beach in Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

It made me think that I need to pay much closer attention to the type of packaging of the products I buy. And to boycott products packaged by companies using the types of material that are simply not recyclable.
