Beach and Park Closures but Fishing Can Continue

The closure of beaches and restrictions on times of operation do not apply to fishermen. But you must be in possession of a permit or exemption granted in terms of the Marine Living Resources Act 1998 (Act No. 18 of 1998).

Although poorly defined, which has led to some confusion, by definition the amended National Disaster Regulations imply any fisherman with a valid license (be it recreational or commercial) is exempt.
