One of the unresolved legal matters to feature this year is the December 2020 court order related to the horse mackerel sector. This is just the latest development in this saga that has its origins in the 2015/2016 FRAP process.
The order stipulates successful horse mackerel fishing right holders have to revert back to the final list decided by the Delegated Authority decisions of 21 December 2016.
At the time the final list consisted of 33 right holders of whom 27 were new entrants.
As is the case with most unpopular decisions the matter went to court.
