Environmental activism is gaining momentum in South Africa as development after development is exposed for not adequately complying with relevant legislation. The Karpowerships project is one example, and the insistence of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) that the project goes ahead is receiving short shrift from the many entities opposed to it.
