South Africa's national fish is the Galjoen, or Damba as it is also referred to.

Did you know that the marine equivalent of South Africa’s iconic springbok, is the galjoen?

The galjoen, also referred to as the Damba, is not a fish many of us are familiar with so why would it chosen to represent South Africa? It turns out that this fish has quite a history to it that dates back to the 1600s.
