Horse mackerel vessels of this size have been a common sight alongside the quay at port of Walvis Bay. The Namibian government has turned down requests from the Wet Landed Horse Mackerel Association (WLHMA) to permit fishing in the 200m isobar zone. It says to do so – even for a short period – would set a precedent.
