There’s something a bit off about a sudden change to the permit conditions applicable to the South African Patagonian Toothfish fishery. Not only does the change coincide with the date the permit exemption was issued to the Uruguayan-flagged long liner, Ocean Azul, but in 2022 ahead of this change it was clearly fishing illegally in the PEI-EEZ without the repercussions.
