Research Partnership in Celebration of World Shark Day

In the run up to World Shark Day, the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation’s research team is addressing some key knowledge gaps in marine research by teaming up with Shark Spotters, the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB) and its marine infrastructure platform – the Acoustic Tracking Array Platform (ATAP), and South African National Parks (SANPARKS) – Scientific Services for a collaborative research project on the movement of elasmobranchs (marine animals with cartilaginous skeletons, such as sharks and rays) in False Bay, particularly in relation to the bay’s Marine Protected Areas (MPAs).
