The rise of the oil and gas sector in Namibia relegated the country’s fisheries to the government back burner for most of the year although there was a flurry of activity from September onwards. Front of mind have been the lessons learnt from the ‘Fishrot’ corruption scandal and an awareness that rushing changes to the Petroleum Act could prove to be detrimental.
